Do Some Good®
Advocacy & Education
Honeybees are the pollinator of choice for everything from fruits and veggies to nuts and beans; without the diligent, little Honeybee, many plants do not fruit. We host and attend events to engage the public in activities that educate them about the Honeybee’s critical importance to our food supply.
Established in 1875, The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station is the first in America to investigate plants and their pests, insects, soil, and water. At their outdoor laboratories in Lockwood Farm, Dr. Richard S. Cowles researches selective breeding to produce stronger and more resilient Honeybees.
Honeybees face a perfect storm of mites, pathogens, pesticides, and declining nectar and pollen forage. To stop this decline, profits from your purchase support vital research to benefit the Honeybee and create a world in which it can thrive.
Our choice in organic agriculture protects natural resources and conserves biodiversity. Green farming, clean manufacturing, and recyclable products are some of our contributions to a better world.
Drew’s Honeybees began in 2008 with a lifelong fascination with insects. The first strain of Italian Honeybees from Georgia fared poorly in a harsh winter. Despite the sad beginning, Drew’s Honeybees founder Drew Burnett was hooked. Even a life-threatening bout of anaphylactic shock in response to stings couldn’t shake his love for the humble, toiling Honeybee.
After experimenting with salves, balms, and tonics made from beeswax, honey, and propolis (a resinous material bees make to seal and disinfect their hive), Drew grew the beekeeping operation into something more — a Honeybee-centric skincare company. Since beginning our mission to help the Honeybee, we’ve partnered with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station to fund research into the causes of Colony Collapse Disorder.

A question every founder must answer is “what need am I satisfying?” This question is especially relevant when entering a crowded market. At Drew’s Honeybees, we see needs and purposes other companies are not meeting. There are many manufacturers of lip balm, several of which are even natural and organic. However, nearly all use composite flavors concocted by chemists that bear no relation to the stated flavor. At Drew’s Honeybees, we shun this approach in favor of authenticity. Whether you want Coffee, Cocoa, or Vanilla we give you the fruit of the plant, not composite “flavor.”
At Drew’s Honeybees, we recognize this venture would not be possible without the humble, ever toiling Honeybee. Moreover, we put our money where our mouth is. Fully 20% of our profits go to Honeybee health. We partner with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station to fund pioneering research into the causes of, and solutions to, Colony Collapse Disorder. With Drew’s Honeybees, you can enjoy the bounty of this amazing planet and do some good.
