A nucleus colony is a five frame colony with all the functional parts of a big, honey producing colony–a laying queen, bees of all ages, developing honey bees, and honey and pollen stores. Our colonies are headed by a Varroa Sensitive Hygiene Pol-line 2.2 queen. The Pol-Line Project is headed by the USDA Honey Bee Research Lab in Baton Rouge, LA. Our nucleus hives are pickup only.

Scientists have made progress on a honey bee that can thrive amid the mites and pathogens that plague her. Nature made more progress. Your hive likely requires regular treatments to survive. We recommend you join a good beekeeping organizations. They exist in each state to support beekeepers and their bees.

Your hive will consist of a growing colony safely contained on five frames in a Pro Nuc Box within a mesh bag for another layer of safety. We apologize for the plastic, but we think it is the best option at this time. We will give you $25 to return your nuc and bag so we may reuse them. Reuse!

All hives are pickup only. We do not deliver or ship. We will collect your email address and phone number. We will give one week’s notice by email of your pickup day. Pickup days are any weekend day between April 26-June 8. First pickups go to first orders.

There is a $100 non-refundable down payment. If life happens and this is not a good year for you to begin your journey with bees, we make exceptions
